I Love Elon Musk's People Are Vector Analogy

Image
Photographer: Alex Kotliarskyi | Source: Unsplash Photographer: Alex Kotliarskyi | Source: Unsplash I recently heard about Elon Musk's People are Vector Analogy on a presentation by Dharmesh Shah (Hubspot's cofounder), where he talks about a personal interaction with Elon Musk. Elon explained to him the best way to optimize your team is to think of each employee as a vector. I thought it was a perfect illustration to demonstrate the difficult task every CEO has of overseeing employees. But first, a quick physics review of what a vector is. A vector is a given quantity that has two properties, magnitude and direction. Suppose you have ten employees or vectors for this analogy, and each is going in a different direction. In that case, your company will not be as productive if all your employees go in the same direction. So the trick is to get each of your employees or vectors going in the same direction because then you can add up each of their magnitudes to get the sum of y...

Only 1.7% of Female CEOs Reach $1 Million in Sales

Image
Photographer: Christina @ wocintechchat.com | Source: Unsplash I was blown away when I first heard that only 1.7% of female entrepreneurs reach $1 Million in sales. How could that be possible when there is almost a 50/50 split between female and male-led companies. As I have been interviewing CEOs and researching, I have compiled a list of 7 crucial steps to become one of the 1.7% percent. 1. Mentors Women want to do it all themselves and not ask for help. We like to control the situation and do not want to bother others. We are givers that are always helping but not eager to accept help back. You MUST have a support system of mentors, advisors who you can go to for assistance and advice. A support system will save you a lot of money, time, and mistakes. Almost twice as many men have mentors as women. Find someone who already has done what you want to do, even if it is in a different field, and start a relationship with them. 2. Outsource Know that you can’t do it all right ...

Here are the top secrets to harnessing the power of social media and growing your business through content creation: Diversify the platforms you are on and stay on top of trends Be present on all the trending platforms. Have a dedicated team or employee who is conducting research on trends and the content most viral at that moment. Many apps like Tik Tok have made virality a regular occurrence but not all content makes it. Keep your eye on relevant trends and keep trying...
